Well-known historian Dr Cormac Moore has delivered the Éamon Phoenix memorial lecture to a packed theatre at Feile 2026.
Dr Moore, also a broadcaster, journalist and Irish News columnist, spoke on Hard Border in Ireland: From Partition to Brexit and then answered questions at the event in St Mary’s University College in Belfast.
He said he was “honoured” to deliver the lecture in memory of Éamon and praised the audience for being “wonderful and engaged”.
Afterwards, Alice Phoenix, Chair of the Éamon Phoenix Foundation, praised Dr Moore for a brilliant lecture that illuminated both past and present Irish history.
She thanked everyone involved in the event, particularly Feile an Phobail and St Mary’s University College.
Before Dr Moore’s lecture, the audience was treated to a video of Éamon talking about the history of Teeling’s Mill outside Poleglass, part of a video series created for Colin Heritage.
The annual memorial lecture has become one of the Foundation’s flagship events, reflecting its charitable mission to promote mutual understanding and reconciliation through the study of history.
Alongside the lecture programme, the Foundation continues to expand its online archive of Dr Éamon Phoenix’s work, including his On This Day columns, ensuring his writing remains freely accessible to future generations.
